My family loves this recipe, if they were at their discretion, I would cook it every day! Try it, you will like it!I love the recipes we all grew up with, they are too good to lose.
* Ingredients :
° 1 1/2 cups milk
° 1 teaspoon salt
° 4 tsp butter, separated
° 1 egg
° Half c of honey
°4 cups allpurpose flour or bread flourc
° 2 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast, or 1 package
* Directions :
If you are using a bread machine, see the next section below.
Bring the milk to a boil.Remove from heat when you see them begin to steam and small bubbles form on the sides of the pan.Leave until cool, between 80-90 degrees.Combine milk, yeast and honey in a small bowl until smooth. Leave it on for 5 minutes.In a large bowl, combine 3 tablespoons butter, room temperature custard mixture, and 2 cups flour. Stir slowly until smooth.(Use a dough hook mixer if you have one, otherwise it's a manual machine.)
adding remaining 2 cups & stir to a dough forms.Add salt and stir / knead for 8 minutes.Then toss the dough onto the already floured surface and knead for a few more minutes.Spray into a large bowl with cooking spray and spoon inside.Cover the bowl (with plastic wrap or a damp towel) and let stand for an hour in a warm place.Beat the dough and roll it out on a floured surface until it's about an inch thick.Fold in half and close gently.
Cut into 24 equal-sized squares and place on 2 lightly oiled baking sheets.Cover and let the dough rise for 30-40 minutes, until it doubles in size.
Preheat oven to 350° and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until light golden brown.Melt the remaining butter and brush over the top of the muffins.
Served with Texas Roadhouse Butter.
